Resumption of Civic Services (Munich/Berlin)
The Consulate-General in Munich has resumed services for South African citizens from 10 June 2020 on an appointment basis only. Please note that walk-in applicants will not be allowed.
Enquiries on existing civic applications must be made by email only.

The Consulate-General has taken action to ensure that measures are in place to safeguard all visitors and staff. We request your understanding and co-operation when visiting the Consulate.
The Embassy in Berlin has resumed providing Civic Services on 22 June 2020 on appointment basis only. Request for appointment must be sent to: Berlin.Consular(at)dirco.gov.za
All requests for appointments must contain the following information:
- Subject line of email: Appointment request
- Full name of the applicant
- Contact details (Address + mobile phone number)
- Application type e.g. passport
* Please note that South Africa is still being subject to Covid-19 restrictions (Level 1) and turnaround time for processing of the application may delay beyond the prescribed time due to Covid-19 dynamics.
SAFETY AND COMPLIANCE REQUIREMENTS TO BE OBSERVED DURING APPOINTMENT
- A FFP2 mask must be used at all times on the premises.
- Social distancing must be maintained at all times.
- Hand hygiene must be maintained.
- Admittance is limited to the adult applicant only and no accompanying persons will be allowed.
- Minors (under 18 years) must be accompanied by both parents/parent with sole custody/guardianship as applicable.
- In exceptional cases such as applicants requiring assistance (e.g. senior citizens), prior arrangements must be made for one accompanying person.
- Do not bring witnesses for Commissioner of Oaths as witnesses will be provided at the Consulate
- Ensure the application is complete. If information is missing or not accepted, it will be necessary to schedule a new appointment by email.
- Bring black ballpoint pen to complete any official forms provided by the Consulate/Embassy.
- Bring a separate set of photocopies for each type of application as photocopies are not made at the Consulate/Embassy
- The Embassy/Consulate has the right to refuse entry.
- Once the appointment is finished, please leave the premises immediately.
Wearing an FFP2 mask is mandatory.
Citizen (or civic) services refer to the services provided to South African citizens by the Department of Home Affairs. South African citizens / applicants who are currently residing in the Federal Republic of Germany may approach the Consular Section of the Embassy of the Republic of South Africa in Berlin or the Consulate-General in Munich (see Civic_business_hours).
