Commemoration of Commonwealth Remembrance Day
11 Nov 1919, is a memorial day that is observed in Commonwealth member states since the end of the First World War to honour and commemorate the armed forces members, men and women who have died in the line of duty, not only in wars, however, in conflicts and peace operations.
In light with this, on the Commonwealth Remembrance Sunday, every year an Act of Remembrance, which includes a wreath laying ceremony, is hosted by one of the of the Commonwealth Nations in Germany at the Berlin 1939-1945 War Cemetery, Heerstraße 139, 14055 Berlin.
This year, on 13 November 2022, the Embassy of the Republic of South Africa has the honour to host the ceremony. The event will commence at 09h45, followed by a separate ecumenical service at St. George’s Anglican Church, Preußenallee 17/19, 14052 Berlin at 11h00.
This ceremony and the church service are open to the public and you and your families are most welcome to join us.!!!
