Deputy Head of Mission Andries Oosthuizen at the 1st Intercultural Culture and Choir Exchange 2023

A development partnership between the "Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma Local Municipality in KwaZulu-Natal and the City of Wolfsburg was established during corona to focus on cooperating in the spheres of children and youth, culture, education, and vocational training. Furthermore, there have been close relations between the Wolfsburg-based association BE YOUR OWN HERO e.V. and Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma Local Municipality for 20 years.

Under the patronage of the Lord Mayor of the City of Wolfsburg, Dennis Weilmann, and on the initiative of the Scharoun Theater Wolfsburg, an international cultural exchange of choirs took place with selected students of Neue Schule Wolfsburg, Theodor-Heuss-Gymnasium, Albert-Schweitzer-Gymnasium, Phoenix Gymnasium, Heinrich-Nordhoff-Gesamtschule, and the Clouds of Hope Childrens Christian Care Centre in Underberg, KwaZulu-Natal, in October and December 2023, respectively.

The Highlight of the Himeville / Underberg choir’s visit to Wolfsburg was a joint concert “United we sing” at the Scharoun Theater Wolfsburg on 21 December 2023.  The South African Embassy in Berlin was represented by our Minister Plenipotentiary Andries Oosthuizen.
