Mission at Work: Mission Attends African Ambassadors Dialogue in Mainz
Minister Plenipotentiary Cassimjee attended the African Ambassadors Dialogue hosted by the Ministerium for Wirtschaft, Verkehr, Landwirtschaft und Weinbau in partnership with Afrika Verein and held at the IKH (Business Chamber Rheinhessen) on promotion of Trade and Investment with Africa and South Africa. This first ever conference was hosted due to the increased focus by the German Government on Africa and in this regard Dr Sonja Kreibich, Head of Division Sub-Saharan Africa was invited as the key note speaker.
A panel discussion with representatives of other designated diplomatic representatives and Ambassadors was also held, as well as a roundtable with German investors successfully investing in Africa and to a large extent South Africa.
The Minister Plenipotentiary Adv M.A Cassimjee represented the Ambassador of South Africa, Mr Sizani and South Africa, and briefed potential investors on the economic opportunities available in SA. Mention was also made that with over 600 companies represented in South Africa, South Africa provides German companies - especially the MITTLESTAND companies - not only the opportunity to invest in South Africa but also to utilise the country as a platform for investment into the region and the continent. The large interest shown in investing in South Africa reflected the success of the conference for SA.
A meeting was also held with Dr Deniz Alkan Head of International Affairs at Staatskanzlei Rheinland-Pfalz to discuss cooperation with South Africa.
