Thank you tea for our stakeholders in the centenary celebrations for Nelson Mandela on 1 November 2018

Yesterday Minister Plenipotentiary Adv. MA Cassimjee invited the Embassy’s stakeholders of the events that were hosted to celebrate the legacy of Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela, to a thank you tea at the South African Embassy in Berlin.

Minister Cassimjee warmly congratulated Mr Clemens Kroll of the Federal Foreign Office, Mr Tilo Braune of the Peter Krämer Foundation, Dr Gabriele Minz and her PA Manuel Hornauer of Dr. Gabriele Minz Gmbh - Internationale Kulturprojekte, Ms Tatjana Polon and Mr Ralf Politz of Tagesspiegel on the huge success of the events focused on the legacy of Tata Madiba and thanked them for their enormous and personal contribution in making these events possible.

Commemorative events in 2018 included, the film retrospective project by the Left Party and Rosa-Luxemburg Foundation in May and June, the Nelson Mandela School Run on 15 June, Tagesspiegel supplement on Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela, the International Nelson Mandela Day at the Bahnhofsmission Zoo on 18 July, the concert by Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Dear Reader and Floyd Lavigne on 20 July, the Young European Classic concert combining the launch of the Commemorative Stamp and the concert by the youth orchestra Music is a great Investment (MIAGI) on 2 August as well as the panel discussion hosted by the Friedrich-Ebert-Foundation on 16 October 2018.

Moreover, Minister Cassimjee expressed gratitude to the German Africa Business Association (Afrika-Verein der deutschen Wirtschaft) and the Association of German Chambers of Commerce and Industry, for their tremendous work towards H.E. President Cyril Ramaphosa’s successful visit to Germany within the framework of the G20 summit on 30 and 31 October.

Minister Cassimjee emphasised that the partners should consider themselves part of the Embassy’s family. In doing so, he expressed the Embassy’s wish to continue and enhance this strong relationship with these vital partners in the future.
