On Wednesday 16 May 2018, H.E. Ambassador Phumelele Stone Sizani invited the Honorary Consuls of South Africa, Ambassadors of the SADC countries as well as representatives from the fields of gastronomy, politics, culture and media to a South African wine tasting of two Black owned South African brands. The wine tasting focused on a selection of delicious wines by two women of colour, Ms Thembi Tobie of Thembi Wines in Stellenbosch, and Ms Bunty Khan of Cape Dreams in Robertson as well as the Schalkenbosch Winery in Tulbagh.
Themed “Africa’s Time is Now” Ms Roxanne Kreutle of Aginstitute - Gateway to Southern Africa & Germany, gave an introduction of South Africa as a tourism and wine destination and conducted the tasting of Thembi Wines as well as the MCC by Schalkenbosch Winery.
Mr Wolfgang Bildhauer, managing director of Big5 e.K. Weinimport, a wine importer who exclusively promotes and sells South African wines, presented the works and products of Cape Dreams.
