Facilitated by Mr Reimann and his Rainbow agency, the meeting took place in the framework of a European tour of the school's soccer team, the U14 Bafana Bafana, which first took them to the "Ruhrgames", an international youth sports event which could be described as Youth Olympics with thousands of young athletes competing in 13 olympic and four action sport disciplines. To the young South Africans, the Ruhrgames was an impressive experience as they slept in tents and got to know athletes from many different nations.

The trip then took them to the Europe School in Soest and to the much anticipated Berlin visit. Staying in host families most of the time, they are now heading to Neuzelle in Brandenburg before playing the Hamburger SV U14 team and - as the final sport highlight of the trip - participate in the Gothia Cup, the world’s largest and most international youth football tournament. Each year, around 1700 teams from 80 nations take part and they play 4500 games on 110 fields.
