South African – British Echo Award Winning Violinist Daniel Hope at Komische Oper on 7 April 2017
The forthcoming symphony concert of the Komischen Oper Berlin (Opera House in Berlin) offers a sight to behold with the South African–British Echo Award winning violinist Daniel Hope.
Soundtracks of King Kong and Casablanca are known around the world, but who knows their composor Max Steiner? Together with Erich Wolfgang Korngold he has been considered a pioneer of greatly orchestrated Hollywood film music. The symphony concerts presents a selection of his pieces for Gangster in Key Largo (1948), which have been newly arranged to a Suite by Charles Coleman.
Daniel Hope, who has been awarded the Echo for five times, he fittingly presents Korngolds violine concert in d-dur by partly using motives from his film music, which he had created at the same time. Richard Strauss? Symphonia domestica, which premiered in the New York Carnegie Hall in 1904, rounds off the selection of late Romantic orchestral sounds that are conducted by conductor Kristjan Järvi.
