Job Re-advertisement: Accountant at the South African Embassy in Berlin

The South African Embassy in Germany seeks to employ a fully bilingual (English/German)  accountant.– Re-advertisement 

Salary: Based on experience and qualifications

1. Qualifications/ Experience
A relevant three-year post-school qualification in accounting
Five (5) years’ experience as an accountant with administrative, financial, or managerial experience


2. Required Job Competencies
Adheres to the South African Public and Finance Management Act (No. 1 of 1999) and Treasury regulations.
Understanding of the Department of International Relations and Cooperation business, familiarity with Rules and Regulations of Finance Management and Supply Chain Processes.
Organized and able to meet assigned deadlines.
Computer literacy (software and hardware) MSOffice suite of the programmes such as MS Word, MS Excel, Power Point, and knowledge of using internet.
Able to operate and maintain office equipment (fax, photocopier, scanners, printers & shredding).
Good communication and written skills in English and Germany language.
Interpretation and translation skills from Germany to English and from English to German language.
Good interpersonal skills
Sense of urgency
Flexibility


3. Duties/Responsibilities
Prepare monthly expenditure reports, including accounts reconciliation and cashbook statements.
Capturing of payments.
Checking expenditure vouchers and receipts against bank statements.
Checks invoices and supporting documents and prepare for payment on expenditure voucher and other appropriate forms.
Prepare expenditure voucher by checking invoices to ensure that goods or service have been specified correctly in relation to costs.
Handling of payments, preparation of cheques, vouchers, and bank transfer.
Checking reimbursement claims to ensure that they are correct and in accordance with policy (admin code and financial regulations), and prepare for payment.
Perform any other duties as per the job profile.
Perform ad-hoc duties as and when required.


4. The successful candidate will be expected to sign a performance agreement and be able to work outside normal working hours as and when required.
Candidate to serve probation period before the post confirmed as permanent.
Candidate to submit a police clearance report without criminal record.
Candidate who are not holding a German Nationality to provide the certified copy for work permit.


The minimum annual salary range is € 33 984 excluding fringe benefits. (Depending on qualifications and experience).
