South Africa Voted as Non-Permanent Member of the UN Security Council
South African Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Minister Sisulu with Minister Maas at the UN headquarters after the election of South Africa as a non-permanent member of the Security Council. The UN General Assembly on Friday, 8 June, voted to elect Germany, Belgium, South Africa, the Dominican Republic and Indonesia as two-year non-permanent members of the Security Council, starting on January 1, 2019.
