Hardly any other person has influenced the world politics of our time to an extent as Nelson Mandela did. His extraordinary life story will now be brought to the big screen for the first time with the film MANDELA: DER LANGE WEG ZUR FREIHEIT and will cover the entire spectrum from his childhood, his first big love, the beginning of his fight against apartheid to his inauguration as first president of the democratic South Africa.

Visually impressive, the deeply personal story of a man is being portrayed who consequently opposes all resistance in order to fight for a better life in his home country. Still during his 27-year imprisonment on the notorious prison island Robben Island, Nelson Mandela rose to the charismatic leader of the anti-apartheid movment and to a worldwide symbol for peaceful resistance. MANDELA: DER LANGE WEG ZUR FREIHEIT describes the emergence of a modern icon who brought about the abolishment of racial segregation and thus the desired political change in South Africa, and is at the same time a declaration of love to a person who, through his indefatigable fight for freedom, equal rights and independence, changed the whole world.
