Provision of Civic and Immigration (Visa) Services for Berlin and Munich
Please find below all the necessary information on the Berlin Embassy's provision of Civic and Immigration Services. Specific questions must be directed to the email address of the Consular Section given below.
A. Civic services
All Civic Services applications ought to be submitted in person on appointment basis only. Request for appointment must be sent to: Berlin.Consular(at)dirco.gov.za
All requests for appointments must contain the following information:
1. Subject line of email: Appointment request
2. Full name of the applicant
3. Contact details (Address + mobile phone number)
4. Application type e.g. passport
* Please note that South Africa is still subject to Covid-19 restrictions (Level 1) and turnaround time for the processing of the application may delay beyond the prescribed time due to Covid-19 dynamics.
B. New operational arrangements for Immigration Services for the South African Embassy in Berlin
How to apply for a visa
As of 7 June 2022 all visa applications must be submitted in person to the South African Embassy in Berlin (except for applicants who reside in Bavaria or Baden-Württemberg) and without prior appointment. All visa applications submitted by courier/post beyond this date will not be considered and will be sent back to the applicant.
Operational times for visa applications will be as follows as of 16 January 2023:
Mondays: 09:00 am - 12:00 pm
Tuesdays: 09:00 - 12:00 pm
Thursdays: 09:00 am - 12:00 pm
SAFETY AND COMPLIANCE REQUIREMENTS TO BE OBSERVED DURING APPOINTMENT
- All visitors are required to comply with the German regulations regarding Covid-19.
- A FFP2 mask covering must be used at all times on the premises.
- Visitors are required to present a negative test issued by an official testing center or medical doctor or proof of vaccination and/or Proof of recovery
- Social distancing must be maintained at all times.
- Hand hygiene must be maintained.
- Admittance is limited to the adult applicant only and no accompanying persons will be allowed.
- Minors (under 18 years) must be accompanied by both parents/parent with sole custody/guardianship as applicable.
- In exceptional cases such as applicants requiring assistance (e.g. senior citizens), prior arrangements must be made for one accompanying person.
- Do not bring witnesses for Commissioner of Oaths as witnesses will be provided at the Consulate.
- Ensure the application is complete. If information is missing or not accepted, it will be necessary to schedule a new appointment by email.
- Bring black ballpoint pen to complete any official forms provided by the Consulate/Embassy.
- Bring a separate set of photocopies for each type of application as photocopies are not made at the Consulate/Embassy.
- The Embassy/Consulate has the right to refuse entry.
- Once the appointment is finished, please leave the premises immediately.
Provision of Civic and Immigration (visa) Services in Munich
- Enquiries on existing civic applications must be made by email only.
- To schedule an appointment, please send an email to: Munich.CivicApp(at)dirco.gov.za
- Only for enquiries relating to: Certification/Authentication of documents, Commissioner of Oaths, Authentication of signatures on documents for use in South Africa, Affidavits, Power of Attorney, email to be sent to: munich.consular(at)dirco.gov.za to schedule an appointment
A) Civic Services
All Civic Services applications must be submitted in person on an appointment basis only. Applicants residing in Bayern and Baden-Württemberg can request for an appointment to: Munich.CivicApp(at)dirco.gov.za
All requests for appointments must contain the following information:
1. Subject line of email: Appointment request
2. Full name of the applicant
3. Contact details (Address + mobile phone number)
4. Application type e.g. passport
B) Immigration (Visa) Services
The South African Consulate General in Munich will be accepting visa applications on a walk-in basis from Tuesday 11 April 2023 (and every Tuesday thereafter) between 09:00 and 12:00. The last admission is 11:45. Visa applications received after this date by means of post and courier will not be accepted (and sent back to the applicant.)
Kindly ensure that applications are fully completed with all relevant documents prior to arrival as limited time is allocated per application. Incomplete applications cannot be accepted.
Applications for Permanent Residence will continue on an appointment basis. To request an appointment, please send an email to munich.consular(at)dirco.gov.za with "PR application appointment" in the subject line.
