South Africa taking part in the International Tourism Bourse 2019

On the eve of the ITB on 5 March 2019, H.E. Phumelele Stone Sizani, Ambassador of the Republic of South African in Germany, welcomed Siza Ntshona, Chief Executive Officer of South African Tourism (SAT), Ian Utermohlen, Regional General Manager of SAT, David Frost, Chief Executive Officer of the Southern Africa Tourism Services Association (SATSA) and board member of SAT, Bradley Brouwer, Head Global Trade at South African Tourism and Ms Silvia Braun, Central Europe Marketing Manager, as well as 80 South African exhibitors in the presence of Advocate MA Cassimjee, Minister Plenipotentiary, George Monyemangene, Consul General at the South African Consulate General, Lehlogonolo Sibisi, Vice Consul Political, to the Embassy of the Republic of South Africa in Berlin. In his speech Ambassador Sizani underlined that tourism as one of the key aspects of the country’s Nine-Point Plan currently supported approximately 1.5 million jobs directly and indirectly in South Africa.  Siza Ntshona stated that South Africa presently had 10.5 million arrivals with 343.229 arrivals from Germany and that the objective was to double arrival figures until 2030.

At the ITB South Africa Media & Trade Roundtable hosted by South African Tourism, Siza Ntshona, CEO of SAT, Ian Utermohlen, Regional General Manager of SAT, David Frost, CEO of  SATSA & board member of SAT, as well as Christof Hückelheim, Manager Sales Central Europe at South African Airways, discussed the successes and challenges for tourism in South Africa with leading representatives of the tourism industry. Members of the panel also included Advocate MA Cassimjee, Minister Plenipotentiary at the South African Embassy, George Monyemangene, Consul General at the South African Consulate General. The discussion was moderated by Kai Böcking, a television presenter on German television.
