Afrikanische Union
Die Afrikanische Union (AU) wurde am 26 Mai 2001 von 53 Staaten gegründet und hat zum Ziel, die Einheit Afrikas zu fördern. Die Afrikanische Union ist die Nachfolgeorganisation der Organisation für die Einheit Afrikas (Organisation for African Unity/OAU), die am 25. Mai 1963 in Addis Abeba, Äthiopien, gegründet wurde. Die OAU wurde ins Leben gerufen, um die Einheit und Solidarität der afrikanischen Länder zu fördern, die Souveränität der Mitgliedsstaaten zu verteidigen, alle Formen von Kolonialismus auszurotten, internationale Zusammenarbeit unter Beachtung der Charta der Vereinten Nationen und der Allgemeinen Erklärung der Menschenrechte zu fördern und die Wirtschafts-, Bildungs-, Gesundheits-, Wohlfahrts-, Wissenschafts- und Verteidigungspolitik der Mitgliedsstaaten anzugleichen.
