SAMission at Work: Meeting with Play Handball Organisation

Yesterday, Minister Plenipotentiary Cassimjee met with Ms Nicola Scholl, former player in the German National Handball League and founder of PLAY HANDBALL, a sport and development NGO based in South Africa and Germany, promoting education and social development through handball. Through handball, the NGO gives young people the opportunity to experience team spirit and healthy competition, reinforce their self-esteem through positive experiences and generate enthusiasm, responsibility and focus.

Minister Plen Cassimjee said he was very impressed by the good work being done at the grassroots in South Africa (but also in other countries like Kenya). Though Handball is not yet very popular in South Africa, it is an Olympic discipline which is worth investing in, especially when it goes with empowerment and education!
