The South African Embassy was officially opened in November 2003 and is situated in Tiergartenstraße 18, 10785 Berlin. The four-storey building worth 9,5 million Euros is the first new chancery that was constructed after the collapse of Apartheid in 1994. In the atrium of 180 square metres as well as on the upper passages there are artworks from South African artists to be admired. Various materials from South Africa were used for the building, like the beige-coloured stone of the façade, which comes from a quarry near Johannesburg. (more) | | | |
