South African Embassy meets Free State of Saxony
Minister Plenipotentiary of the South African Embassy in Berlin, Advocate Mohamed Cassimjee has met Mr Ulf Schnars, Deputy Head of the Representation of the Free State of Saxony in Berlin, on Friday, 24 March 2017. The SA Mission has embarked on an outreach programme to the Representatives of the German Länder. Advocate Cassimjee has already met with a number of Länder representatives, both to introduce himself and to establish cooperation with the Embassy of South Africa in Berlin.
In his brief outline of the purpose of the visit, the Minister began by thanking the Free State of Saxony for its already existing relationship with SA’s Free State Province, since the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on 13 September 2007. The main content of the partnership between the two provinces includes economic co-operation in the fields of education, development of infrastructure, renewable energies, mining / mining redevelopment, sport and water management.
The Minister Plenipotentiary commended the exchange of visits between the two provinces and pledged Embassy support for as and when required. He mentioned that the office of the representation of the Länder is welcome to invite the Embassy to share relevant and useful information about South Africa. He also informed Mr Schnars about the planned Roundtable Discussions for the third quarter of this year with all the Landers and Honorary Consuls.
